Here a Bride and Groom wanted a special way to greet their guests as they enter their reception... this is what they got! How cool , how unique is that! The best part is that they also hired Caricatures by Ryan for their entire wedding to draw the guests throughout the event- LIVE!

So along the way of life you meet people that are just super cool and live life to the fullest. That's the family I drew these two drawings for. Kiki is my daughter's friend and the "pea" is an illustration I did for their soon to be nephew's baby shower. The Mom is full of great ideas and sends out elaborately designed cards. Quite the Martha Stewart meets surfer chick... anyway, it's always fun to work with people that are willing to try new things and are not so rigid. After all its only a caricature.
What do Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd have in common?
They all got their caricature drawn today... I'm not a political guy but they really make great caricatures...who should I do next? Oh Palin... So a veteran cop calls my studio and says give me a drawing of my big face and make me look good... so this is what I gave him... Ironically he used to street race. Funny stuff! I wasn't sure if he wanted to be drawn in glasses or not so thanks to the ol' computer I was able to turn that layer off as well as the funny text. So now its off to be sent to the Class President to display I guess. Sure beats those old 70's touched up photos!!
Wow! A hot and fun day at Bahama Breeze... Caricatures by Ryan set up and drew
for a corporate event and could not have asked for a better place to draw at. I almost felt like I was in the Caribbean drawing some vacationers while listening to some steel drums being played and getting the occasional waft of seafood and pina' colada's! Its a job not everyone can handle! I also met some amazing people and got introduced to Brian of JLMODEL Photography, Orlando who was gracious enough to capture my "good" side in full Island attire :) See below for proof that I do dress the part. Thanks Gloria! Ben is a friend of our families that is now meeting a golf score in age. He has been a great support to our family for many years and I was honored to have the opportunity to bring out his best - or so I hope I did :). This was done from two photos one smiling and one with glasses. The Course is on Morgan Hill , Easton PA.
Who better to draw than Brevard's Most Famous Morning Show Team. Sorry it took so long guys! Next one will be you guys in your true form... I'm taking suggestions.... Maybe Timmy driving the A1A FJ and pulling his pop up? Or Lisa doing teh hamster dance with her Amish attire on... oh wait your from Jamaica... maybe dreads would be better... oh wait Jamaica NY... hmm will hafta think of that one :)! HOW'D HE DO THAT? YOU MAY ASK.... SEE BELOW.
I do the caricature entirely on the good ol' Mac! I use a special pressure sensitive 21" Cintiq tablet that costs more than my car, but it does the trick! The pen is to the right of the tablet and is used in place of the mouse. Took me about 4 minutes to draw each one! Just kidding... Timmy took the most time because of the abundance of rosy cheeks and chest hair protruding from the A1A shirt...couldn't miss that. Here is one I just did where the client wanted the founding "fathers and mothers" of the family place upon Mt. Rushmore. They were looking for more of a portrait image and something to be added to a family reunion T-Shirt. It took a while to get the heads positioned and looking in a natural way. Considering that they are in stone in real life also was a battle as I kept wanting to make it appear out of stone rather than just a fun sketch. I also worked with a very old photo of them, so they appeared less emotion-filled than a typical caricature. Introducing "Newman" - Soon to be the proud logo and representative for Newman's Hot Dog Stand! Quite the character. After looking at him, we decided to add a neck and tongue to side, a smirk helped some too to give him some expression other than..... DUH!
So I may have gone a bit overboard with some details... but I really enjoyed this one. Its a couple and their daughter (on the bow). The mom has an amazing friend who was generous enough to pay for a Caricature of the family to celebrate her 50th and their love for boating in West Palm/ Boca area. I love the composition of thus one and also the ability to draw up a boat... being a boat designer by trade :) www.rhoadsdesignstudio.com - for proof :) Started with just some gesture drawings to lay it out:
